iPod Nano and iPod Classic Tin Cases

Image

How would you like to carry your iPod around in a case that looks like it should be full of Altoids? Case Logic, the famous case maker of many different types, has came up with a tin metal case for the current generation iPod Nano and 80GB/160GB iPod Classic.

“The tins are custom fitted for either iPod, and are lined with a silicon insert to cushion the MP3 player while the metal case protects it from wear and tear. There are holes cut in the top and bottom giving you access to the iPod’s ports and controls, and the lid slides up and down so you can see the screen and access the scroll wheel. The cases run $30 each and are available in either black, pink, eggplant purple or silver depending on which version you buy.”

Time For A New Keyboard

Image

Here is a keyboard from Apple that plus works under XP. Whether you are an Apple person, or a Microsoft person, you have to confess that Apple has some well designed products. “Not surprisingly, the humans at the Apple Store were as useless when it came to answering my questions as any other retail employee, but thankfully the keyboard works nearly flawlessly under XP. I’ll have to construct a few registry changes to get my print screen button back, but other than that I’m really liking the new keyboard. It’s precisely like typing on a laptop, which I know some public don’t like, but I have no problem with it. The position of the CTRL and ALT keys are swapped compared to my old Logitech keyboard, but I’m certain the muscle memory in my hands will soon adjust. In fact the only real complaint I have was when I tried to plug my Wacom into one of the keyboard’s USB ports and found that it didn’t supply sufficient capability for the tablet to work properly. unlucky, but far from a deal breaker.”

Homer Simpson Floating Radio

Image

Well, Summer will be here before we know it, and everyone will get the old backyard pools filled up. Here is a Homer Simpson themed radio that floats. It is AM and FM (you mean they REALLY still have AM?) radio that you can enjoy right out there on your floatie. Homer floats on his back, with a can of Duff beer balanced on his stomach. Which by the way, tunes the radio, and adjusts the volume. A set of AAA batteries is due to fire Homer up. Waterproof, I hope. Cost is about $40.

iRiver SPINN MP4 Player

iriver spinn 01One of the problems I have came across with mp3 players is that they are too complicated to use. You are trying to play your favorite tune, and have to remember what button to push, or what sequence of buttons to use. By the duration you figure it out, whether you are like me, you have either turned the thing off, or are being asked whether you want to delete the song. Well, iRiver tries to solve those problems with the release of the SPINN MP4 Player. The thing iRiver wants to promote with that player is a new type of “toggle wheel” which should prepare it easier to find the tunes you want. Ah, back to analog technology. Features include a photo viewer, FM tuner, recording capability, Flash games (including Flash 2.0), a text viewer, and even a dictionary. The screen is a 3.2 inch WQVGA TFT-LCD with 480×272 resolution. Not to mention it is Blue tooth Stereo compatible.
The iRiver SPINN should be available sometime in the Spring. A price is not determined yet.
