NTT DOCOMO and its eight regional subsidiaries today announced a service that will enable DOCOMO FOMA third-generation handsets to connect to home broadband networks via wireless LAN routers, allowing mobile phone users to enjoy 54 Mbps high-speed packet communication and Voice by Net Protocol (VoIP), beginning in June. With Home U, Japan’s first consumer service for fixed-mobile convergence, DOCOMO FOMA phones will be able to download large-volume info, such as video, with the speed and convenience of broadband. VoIP calls to other Home U users will be free of charge, and to non-Home U users will be 30 percent cheaper than normal FOMA charges.
Initially, the service will be compatible with the N906iL onefone, a mobile/W-LAN dual handset that will be sold from the same day that the service starts. The monthly charge for Home U will be 1,029 yen ($10). No signup fee will be due.

NTT DOCOMO and its eight regional subsidiaries announced today the new 906i and 706i series comprising 19 handsets and 64 body colors, which will be launched on or after June 1.The 906i series’ eight handsets are equipped for all-round functions, including 3G/GSM universal roaming, upgraded GPS location info, HSDPA, “One-Segment” mobile TV, 2 in 1(combines capabilities of two phones in one), DCMX mobile credit card and iD mobile credit payments, VGA LCD screen and voice-to-text translation for Chinese, English and Japanese.

The 906i series handsets come with upgraded full browsers to play Windows Media Video (all models except F906i) and Flash 8 (all models except P906i) subject matter commonly available on PC websites, and can upload movies and images of up to 2MB.

The new 706i series, 11 handsets in all, boasts slim, sophisticated designs and compatibility with “One-Segment” mobile TV. A corporate executive dressed in fancy clothes and drove a BMW during the daytime, but by night he operated as a burglar. that was the double life led by a 39-year-old Kim who robbed luxury mansions in the affluent Gangnam area in southern Seoul. Police arrested Kim for committing 49 burglaries in Gangnam since September 2006 that netted him 10 billion won ($10 million) in cash and valuables. He has seven previous convictions. After each robbery, Kim evaded police checkpoints by leaving the crime scene in his BMW to throw off suspicion. Kim bought a Lexus for his live-in girlfriend and gave her 10 million won every month for living costs. Even she did not know that he was a burglar.
Kim kept the money in borrowed-name accounts and passed himself off among his neighbors as an executive working for a trading company.

Nissan to pledge one ton of carbon credits for every March Collet sold in Japan

Nissan today became the first automaker in Japan to introduce a carbon offset program linked to the sale of a vehicle. For every March Collet sold, Nissan will pledge one ton of carbon credits under Carbon Offset Japan, an environmental non-profit organization abiding by the principals of the Kyoto Protocol. One ton of carbon credits is equivalent to the amount of CO2 emitted from 8,000km of driving.

The campaign, the first of its kind in Japan, allows customers to balance out their individual CO2 footprint and invent a direct positive contribution to CO2 reduction globally.
